The We Love Wine shop and bar is located at the Brompton Forge in the picturesque village of Brompton-by-Sawdon.

Midway between Scarborough and Pickering, Brompton-by-Sawdon sits between the villages of Ruston and Snainton on the A170.

There’s plenty of customer parking space—so feel free to invite all of your friends to meet you there!

The Forge is impossible to miss, sat at the centre of the village with a large wooden wheel mounted to the wall of the building. Originally an old blacksmith’s forge dating back to the 1800s, the building is now a stylishly decorated, spacious countryside wine shop and bar.

It’s an ideal location to sample our vast range of wines, local beers and lagers, soak up the sprawling countryside vistas, and enjoy some of the savoury bites on offer—designed to complement a glass of your new favourite wine or a delicious espresso or Americano coffee.

We’re always on hand to offer advice and help you pick out your perfect wine. So whether you’re a chardonnay, merlot, or pinot lover, we’ve got wines to cater for all tastes and every budget.

We Love Wine opened in August 2020, yet the history and expertise of the proprietors reaches back decades.

Stephen Chalmers – over 30 years of experience in wine import and wholesale

Steve was one of the original co-founders of local wine importers and wholesalers, Betton Wines. He played a significant part in growing the business from scratch into the operation it is today. His wealth of experience and knowledge across the wine industry is as broad as you’d imagine. 

Working with hundreds of hospitality and service industry businesses from all over the North Yorkshire region (including many of the hotels, pubs, and restaurants you’re likely to have visited throughout the area), he’s more than capable of advising you in the nuances and notes of the many wines held on their shelves.

Kirsty Mills – Restaurateur 

Kirsty has owned the Brompton Forge since 1999; over that time, the business has operated as both a restaurant and tearooms. With over 30 years experience in food and drink service, Kirsty brings plenty to the table—literally!

When Steve retired from Betton Wines, Kirsty closed the tearooms to develop the Forge into the We Love Wine shop and bar.
